BEST PLACES TO VISIT IN UDAIPUR

8 COOL THINGS TO DO IN UDAIPUR, INDIA

Our one-month trip through India ended with a stop in Udaipur, the ideal location to unwind and think back on our adventures. Udaipur, also known as India's City of Lakes, has a very laid-back attitude.

CITY PALACE IN UDAIPUR

It is a magnificent architectural wonder comprising courtyards, pavilions, terraces, hallways, rooms, and hanging gardens that rises majestically above the lake on a hill enclosed by crenelated walls. The "Tripolia," a triple-arched gate with eight marble porticos, is the principal entrance. Under the gate, the Maharanas were weighed in gold, and the equivalent weight was then divided among the inhabitants. The SuryanshiMaharanas of Mewar appeared before the populace to reassure them during difficult times on the surajgokhada, the sun's balcony. Other sights at the palace are the "ChiniChitrashala," notable for its blue and white ceramics, and the "MorChowk," known for its magnificent peacock mosaics in the glass. Every night, cutting-edge music and light performance are performed.

PRATAP MEMORIAL MOTI MAGRI

A striking bronze statue of Maharana Pratap riding his beloved Chetak is perched atop the Moti Magri, which overlooks Fateh Sagar. Locals ascend the hill to pay respects to Rana Pratap and his loyal horse, "Chetak," who guarded him ferociously and remained by his side until the end. While escorting his master away from the Haldighati battlefield to safety, this devoted horse gave its life in the process.

LAKE PALACE

Formerly known as Jagniwas and used as a summer castle, it is now a hotel. The palace, which faces east and was constructed on an island near Jagmandir in Lake Pichola between 1743 and 1746, is a magnificent sight to behold. Semi-precious stones and ornate niches are added to the black and white marble walls. Its courtyards are lined with gardens, fountains, pillared terraces, and columns.

JAGDISH TEMPLE

Jagdish Temple, one of the most well-known temples in and around Udaipur, was constructed in 1651 and is a prime example of Indo-Aryan architecture. The building, which is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, is a work of art in architecture with carved pillars, beautiful ceilings, and painted walls. Maharana Jagat Singh I constructed this three-story temple.

FATEH SAGAR LAKE

This lovely lake is located to the north of Lake Pichola and is surrounded by hills and forests. A canal connects Lake Pichola to this man-made lake. The lake is home to the lovely Nehru Island and an islet that is home to the Udaipur Solar Observatory. Connaught Bundh was the name given to it when it was first established by the Duke of Connaught.

JAG MANDIR

A palace named Jagmandir was constructed on an island in Lake Pichola. Construction on this building, also known as the "Lake Garden Palace," started in 1620 and was finished about 1652. The palace served as the summer home and gathering place for the royal family. It's interesting to note that when Prince Khurram rebelled against his father, Emperor Jahangir, and became Emperor Shah Jahan, he was offered refuge here. The Palace had such a profound effect on Emperor Shah Jahan that it later served as the model for The Taj Mahal, one of the most spectacular Wonders of the World.
